What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® is a way to straighten teeth without braces, using aligners.  Aligners are removable and virtually invisible, which means you can straighten your teeth without anyone knowing; and you can still eat and drink what you want.  Also, you can brush and floss normally to maintain healthy gums and teeth; there are no wires, metal or brackets to cause mouth abrasions.

The clear aligners are made of a flexible plastic — specifically, a patented thermoplastic material called SmartTrack® that was created exclusively for Invisalign treatment. They are FDA-approved and contain no BPA, BPS, latex, or gluten.

How does Invisalign® work?

The aligners are manufactured so that teeth will typically move in small increments, so when you put a new aligner in, the teeth in the tray itself are slightly straighter than your teeth are. This puts pressure on your teeth, so that over the course of the week, your teeth will move to match the aligner.

As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will continue to move — little by little, week by week — until they have straightened to their final positions. You’ll need to visit us about once every 6-10 weeks to ensure your treatment is progressing as planned.

Three steps forward. No steps back.
  • Once your Invisalign Provider has confirmed that you are eligible for treatment, they will take photos, X-rays and digital scans, or a dental impression, of your teeth. These records will be used to create a ClinCheck 3D treatment plan, just for you.
  • After being custom)made and shipped to your Provider’s office, you’ll receive a series of aligners to wear every day and change at home - on average every 1-2 weeks.
  • You’ll visit your Provider around every 6-8 weeks to monitor progress and receive new aligners. After finishing your treatment plan, retainers will be required to maintain your new smile.

Will I need frequent dental appointments?

After the placement of your aligners we usually do a control every 12 weeks. We have special protocols and online follow up systems for patients who live far away from the clinic or abroad.

Does an Invisalign® treatment hurt?

In general we can state that Invisalign is painless, however, Pain is a very subjective matter. During the treatment, esp. the first week, and the first day of placing a new aligner, you can feel some pressure on the teeth which people sometimes qualify as light pain), and at some moments you might feel some sensitivities on some teeth. In the vast majority of the cases, patients tell us the treatment is painless.

Can you eat with Invisalign® braces?

One of the great advantages of Invisalign is that you can eat whatever you want: you simply take out your aligners, eat what ever you want, and after that you (ideally) brush your teeth and puut your aligners back in. If you don’t have the time to brush, you simply rinse your mouth with sime water before putting them back on.

Can you drink with Invisalign® braces?

Ideally you only drink water with your aligners on, for all other drinks, we advise to take them off. In case you drink with your aligners, avoid drinks with sugar, acid or high pigmentation (redwine etc) and when you’re done simply rince with some water.

How to clean Invisalign® braces?

Simply with your tooth brush and some toothpaste. Alternatively you can soak them in water with a pastille use to clean dentures.
